Position Overview:

The Condition Monitoring Analyst (CMA) role supports the customer by maximizing productivity, lowering cost per ton, and assists in the sales effort by conveying our differentiated product support offering to our customers.

The CMA takes a proactive approach to maintenance by utilizing the latest technologies and available equipment data to provide recommendations that allow our customers to optimize their fleets. Our monitoring software allows multiple data sources (Fluid analyses, Machine Inspections, Repair History, Equipment Data, Site Conditions) to be analyzed and interpreted by a team of CMAs. Based on knowledge and experience, the CMA will interpret the information, create a recommendation and assign a priority level before sharing the recommendation with the key stakeholder and customers. The CMA is also involved in fleet analysis to support reliability initiatives and help understand recurring equipment issues.

Remote equipment monitoring is an evolving technology across the mining equipment industry. The Condition Monitoring Team partners with our customers in innovative ways to improve equipment mechanical availability and reduce equipment total cost of ownership. This position is well suited to experienced technicians with an aptitude for technology and a willingness to learn and adopt evolving technology and processes. As the role continues to develop, the successful candidate will have opportunities to expand their involvement into fleet analytics, equipment health reporting, reliability investigations, while playing a key role in supporting data-driven maintenance and reliability decisions.

Job Description:

• Review and interpret condition management data to diagnose failure modes
• Communicate equipment condition to customers/Finning personnel to initiate preventive action
• Ensure that customer processes are in place to utilize condition monitoring recommendations
• Follow up on previous recommendations to ensure problem resolution and identify learning opportunities.
• Provide recommendation at a fleet level to reduce customer cost and improve operator behavior
• Actively participate in projects to improve condition monitoring processes

 Specific Skills:

• Strong understanding of mining equipment and component functionality
• Ability to read & understand the technical data sources available.
• Ability to correlate equipment and operational data to support maintenance recommendations
• Comfortable working with digital tools and data, and an interest in adopting emerging technologies and processes.
• Ability to continually manage competing priorities and respond effectively to urgent issues.
• Strategic thinking coupled with multi-angle approach to complex situations.
• Customer service focus with great ability to effectively communicate in English. (written/verbal)
• Strong Analytical Skills (problem solving).
• Self-motivated and detail oriented
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of machine application, design, functionality and understanding the environmental effect on the equipment performance.
• Working knowledge of engines, powertrain, hydraulics, electronic systems, and telematics.
• Knowledge of condition monitoring workflow tools, telematics, and connected equipment technologies is an asset.
• Understanding effective inspection process and equipment lifecycle planning
• Knowledge of Fluid Analysis interpretation
• Extended knowledge of mining equipment (Large Off Highway Trucks, Shovels, Track Type Tractors, Motor Graders) and mine site processes considered an asset.
• Experience with data analysis, equipment databases, and data visualization tools is considered an asset.

Education & Experience:

• Heavy Duty Mechanic, Mechanical or Mining Engineering Degree, or similar education
• Service experience at Finning or another Caterpillar dealer preferred.
• Exposure to reliability-centered maintenance, fleet management, or equipment performance improvement initiatives would be considered an asset.
• Experience working with equipment and operational data to identify trends and opportunities would be considered an asset.
• 5+ years of mechanical experience required
