As a Digital Solutions Engineer – Platform Services, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, enterprise APIs, integration platforms, and cloud-native applications that enable secure, reliable, and real-time information exchange across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, Engineering, and Operational Excellence.

Working closely with Application Experience Engineers, Data Engineers, AI & Data Scientists, Smart Factory Engineers, and business stakeholders, you will develop the enterprise services that power digital products, operational analytics, AI applications, and connected manufacturing systems.

About the Role

 

Modern enterprise software depends on reliable, scalable, and secure platform services that connect business applications, operational technologies, enterprise systems, and cloud services into a unified digital ecosystem.

As a Digital Solutions Engineer – Platform Services, you will build the backend capabilities that power Agilent's digital products. From enterprise APIs and integration services to cloud-native microservices and event-driven architectures, your work will provide the foundation that enables seamless communication between applications, data platforms, AI services, and manufacturing systems.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reusable platform capabilities that accelerate software delivery, improve system reliability, and support Agilent's long-term digital transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

 

Platform Services Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support enterprise digital products.

  • Build reusable APIs, microservices, and shared platform capabilities that accelerate software development across multiple applications.

  • Develop secure and maintainable services that enable reliable communication between enterprise systems and operational platforms.

  • Ensure platform services are scalable, resilient, and designed for long-term maintainability.

Enterprise Integration

  • Develop integration services connecting ERP, MES, PLM, Quality Systems, AI platforms, enterprise applications, and cloud services.

  • Design API-first solutions that promote reuse and simplify system integration.

  • Implement event-driven and asynchronous communication patterns to improve scalability and responsiveness.

  • Enable secure and efficient information exchange across enterprise and manufacturing environments.

Cloud-Native Engineering

  • Develop cloud-native applications and services using modern architectural patterns.

  • Support containerized deployments, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).

  • Optimize platform performance, reliability, scalability, and operational resilience.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities that improve platform health and operational support.

Security & Reliability

  • Apply secure software development practices throughout the application lifecycle.

  • Implement authentication, authorization, and API security standards.

  • Support disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and high-availability strategies.

  • Continuously improve platform performance through proactive monitoring and optimization.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Application Experience Engineers to deliver end-to-end enterprise applications.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to expose trusted enterprise data through secure services.

  • Work with AI & Data Scientists to integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms.

  • Support Smart Factory Engineers by enabling secure integration between operational technologies and enterprise applications.

  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and Agile delivery activities.

Qualifications

You should have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Experience developing backend applications, APIs, or enterprise software platforms.

  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Python, or Java.

  • Understanding of API development, system integration, and relational databases.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and distributed application architecture.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Passion for building scalable software platforms that enable enterprise digital transformation.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:

  • Cloud-native application development (Azure or AWS)

  • Microservices architecture

  • Event-driven architecture

  • Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Enterprise Integration Patterns

  • CI/CD and DevOps practices

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
