A Brief Overview
Focused on relationships and insight, understanding a global Function and providing the financial perspective necessary to evaluate options and make decisions that maximize business value and profitability. This is a highly visible role that owns and supports one of MiTek’s Global Functions.
The FP&A Business Partner is responsible for the development of financial forecasts, financial analysis, and decision support in support of broader business goals. The role provides subject matter expertise and guidance regarding finance-related decisions and provides guidance and counsel in the development of long-range plans involving strategy development, capital investments, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, and financial outcomes.
The role will develop a strong understanding of the Function’s operations, investments, cost drivers, project portfolios, and the financial implications thereof. The Business Partner will serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Function’s leadership team.
Role Responsibilities:
- Works with Functional leadership to optimize business performance and provide strategic financial input and leadership on decisions affecting the function and broader business.
- Ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and appropriate management reporting and analysis, identifying opportunities and risks, monitoring performance, and presenting recommendations on decisions and actions.
- Provides leaders with explanations, insights, and commentary on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to aid in the understanding of actual versus planned and prior results and presents financials at monthly reviews.
- Plays an instrumental role in the global financial planning process and understands operations, resource requirements, and interdependencies to ensure successful implementation and execution of company initiatives and strategies.
- Maintains ongoing and fluid communication with leadership to proactively identify and address operational, financial performance, and planning/forecasting assumptions.
- Develops financial models and business cases to evaluate technology strategy, major investments, strategic initiatives, and expected return on investment.
- Leads the financial planning and allocation process for operating expenses, capital expenditures, headcount, and strategic technology investments.
- Monitors project and investment spend versus budget and forecast, identifies financial risks and opportunities, and provides recommendations to leadership.
- Partners with leadership to identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvement, and more effective utilization of technology resources.
- Develop executive-level presentations and financial communications that clearly articulate Functional performance, investment priorities, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Develops a strong understanding of the costs, contractual terms, usage requirements, and financial commitments associated with global subscriptions, software licenses, and external service providers; monitors spend and commitments to identify cost optimization opportunities and ensure alignment with strategy and business needs.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, financial analysis, or related disciplines; previous business partnering experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strategic financial acumen and ability to synthesize information into recommendations and use those recommendations to drive change.
- Proven ability to analyze actual versus plan results and summarize underlying drivers of variances, as well as provide clear and succinct interpretation of results to management.
- Experience in creating, tracking, and controlling actual, forecast, and budget metrics
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of professionalism in financial analysis and executive deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and operate as a strategic financial advisor.
- Ability to leverage financial and operational data to develop meaningful analysis and management insights.
Additional Requirements:
- 5% travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. This role may need to access areas within the building that are undergoing renovations which may contain jobsite hazards. Occasionally this role will require to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
