About the Role
This is an early-stage agentic integration platform serving paying enterprise customers, and you will be the first engineering hire. You will own core systems end-to-end and set the technical patterns that every future engineer builds on, working hand-in-hand with the founders from day one.
What You'll Do
Own the agent platform, infrastructure, and integrations runtime end-to-end.
Define the engineering patterns and standards that the growing team will build on.
Work directly with the founders, contributing technical opinion and leadership, not just code.
Ship production-ready, observable, and reliable systems continuously.
What We're Looking For
3 to 9 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
Demonstrated ability to build something from 0 to 1, whether at an early-stage startup or through a serious side project.
Strong background from an early-stage, venture-backed startup environment; a career spent exclusively at large tech companies, enterprise, or consulting does not meet the bar.
Proficiency in TypeScript and React for full-stack and frontend development.
Proficiency in Node.js for backend development.
Experience integrating or building workflows around large language models and agent-based platforms.
Hands-on experience with AWS for cloud infrastructure and PostgreSQL for data storage.
Experience owning end-to-end feature development across frontend, backend, and infrastructure with measurable customer impact.
Experience implementing observability, monitoring, and tracing in production systems.
Experience building reliable retry and queuing patterns in distributed systems.
A strong CS or engineering foundation, ideally from a rigorous degree program.
Genuine enthusiasm for joining as employee number one at a true early-stage company.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $150,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available where an O-1 visa is a realistic path.
Location
On-site, five days a week in San Francisco, CA. Candidates currently based in the Bay Area are preferred; US-based candidates with a concrete, dated relocation plan to San Francisco will also be considered.
