Role Overview / Purpose and Scope 

The Jack Driver is responsible for safely moving product in and out of coolers, freezers, and various areas of the plant using electric and/or manual pallet jacks. This role supports production, shipping, and plant operations by accurately picking, transporting, assembling, repacking, weighing, and staging orders while maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Safely operate electric and/or manual pallet jacks to move product in and out of coolers, freezers, shipping areas, delivery platforms, and other designated plant locations. 

  • Efficiently pick customer orders for shipment and ensure the correct number and type of product is loaded and transported to the required area. 

  • Assemble various types of merchandise for shipment and carry or transport orders using material handling equipment. 

  • Stencil, tag, or mark orders as requested to support accurate shipment preparation. 

  • Repack and weigh orders requiring additional handling when necessary and report any quality variances. 

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks and assist with special projects as assigned, including supporting repairs, installations, adjustments, parts replacement, and routine or preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment. 

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area in accordance with company safety, quality, and sanitation expectations. 

  • Communicate verbally with supervisors and associates regarding work assignments, product movement, quality concerns, and operational needs. 

  • Perform other job duties as needed or assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications 

  • Ability to read and understand English and identify items on paperwork. 

  • Ability to communicate verbally with supervisors and associates. 

  • Ability and willingness to be trained to safely operate an electric pallet jack. 

  • Ability to work overtime as needed based on production and business needs. 

  • Willingness to work in a poultry production environment, including damp, cold, wet, warm, and chilled areas. 

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. 

New team members must be able to pass a drug and alcohol post-offer and prior to the start of their employment. Must be authorized to work in the United States. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.  

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel 

This position is required to access the poultry production environment and must be able to tolerate varying heat, wet, damp, cold, and chilled conditions within the plant. The role requires constant walking throughout the plant to pick up and deliver products, as well as frequent standing and bending. Team members must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Hearing and eye protective equipment are required in production areas, and team members are required to wear hair and beard nets where applicable. This role is on-site and does not require travel.
