Laboratory Technician I
Key Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Education: A diploma or a degree in a science discipline is preferable.
- Experience: Preferably 1–2 years of work experience in the relevant laboratory area.
- Language: A good level of spoken and written English.
- IT Skills: Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
- Suitability: Any experience deemed suitable by management (Cawood Directors or Site Lead).

Core Responsibilities
The Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing laboratory analysis and ensuring quality compliance. Specific responsibilities include:
Laboratory Work and Data Management
- Preparatory work for samples that require testing.
- Performing laboratory testing, including common parameters such as: pH, Conductivity, Turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Suspended Solids, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Organic Matter, Kjeldahl Nitrogen and more.
- Inputting of the correct results onto the LIMS system.
- Kaisen mindset.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with the requirements of ISO 17025:2017.
- Bringing any non-conformances or potential areas of improvement to the attention of the Analytical Lead and or Site Responsible Person (SRP)
- Completion of quality records as necessary.
- Filing of work sheets.
Maintenance and Inventory
- Cleanliness of their work area and equipment used.
- Implementation of 5's system.
- Monitoring stock levels of chemicals/consumables used.
- Correct storage of samples.
