About us…

McCann Manchester is officially the UK’s most awarded agency for marketing effectiveness: empowering challenger brands to realise their full growth potential.

We accelerate growth by helping brands to shine brighter in the lives of consumers: focusing on pioneering methods to integrate brand experience design and activation to deliver competitive advantage with distinction.
We operate as part of the wider McCann Manchester team and are home to the best talent across: data and analytics, integrated marketing strategy, paid search, digital PR and content, customer experience design, TV, radio, display and social media planning and buying.

The Part You’ll Play…

You’ll take ownership of the strategic development of client’s media recommendations, based on an in depth understanding of their market, competitors and customers. This means that you’ll have a deep understanding of all media channels (including digital) and a knack for identifying actionable insights that unlock a brief and create compelling multi-channel media solutions that excite clients and drive awareness.

At McCann, we've spent more than a century building successful brands using one simple philosophy: Truth Well Told. It's our belief that consumer insights based on truth are crucial to building brands that last.

As Media Account Director, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of a number of clients (typically household names across high-profile sports and cultural organisations and B2C brands), whilst managing and motivating a small team to deliver exceptional results, every time.

What you’ll bring:

  • An experienced account leader, confident in managing day-to-day discussions and building successful relationships with clients and media owners.

  • Confident in making cross-channel recommendations and understanding the interplay of multiple channels.

  • Able to champion media by evaluating solutions to solve business challenges and meet objectives, whilst collaborating with specialists and media partners across the agency.

  • Ability to take responsibility for a team and their learning and career development – including recruitment, training, development and motivation

  • Take a lead role in “owning” a client brief.

  •  Able to drive media creativity and inspire strategic thinking using actionable insights to deliver against business and marketing objectives.

  • Confident to discuss what success should look like and recommend appropriate measurement.

  • Passionate about media and aware of latest developments in key channels as well as upcoming threats and opportunities within the media landscape.

  • An organised approach to management of timelines and internal/external stakeholders.

  • High standards when it comes to preparation of client-facing documents (whether PT decks, long-handwritten docs or excel schedules) with keen attention to detail.

  • High level of commercial acumen, and confident with discussing contractual terms with clients.

  • Able to manage internal forecasting and oversee finance and billing processes.

  • Demonstrates a “growth mindset” either to drive organic growth from existing clients, or to take on the challenge of new business.

  • Confident in using industry-standard media planning and research tools to deliver effective media solutions.

  • Collaborative and proactive – happy to “muck in” with the rest of the team on key initiatives.

As Media Account Director, You’ll Have Access To…

  • A competitive financial and benefits package and a culture ideally suited to those who enjoy pursuing personal career development.

  • Flexible hours (core hours 10am - 4pm, hybrid working)

  • 25 days holiday, Christmas shutdown, birthdays off, 3 additional collective wellness shutdown days

  • Options to buy additional holiday

  • Competitive pension scheme

  • Free access to mental health support and life coaching
