Exceptional care starts with exceptional people.
For us, this is more than a job– it’s a calling. It’s waking up each day, looking for ways to make a difference with a compassionate, inclusive and talented team. Ochsner empowers you to discover your passion, reach your potential, and Pursue Your Purpose. Exceptional care starts with exceptional people and teams. Together we are leading the way.
Since 1942, Ochsner Health has never wavered from a simple commitment: serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate. Every award earned and every patient helped reflects the people who do that work every day — and now we're looking for the next leader to help write this program's next chapter.
Our Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship was named the 2025 AAPM Best Fellowship Program — recognition of the training, mentorship, and clinical excellence our faculty and fellows deliver year after year. We're seeking a BC/BE Anesthesiologist or PM&R physician, fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Management, to step into a rare opportunity: leading that program forward as our next Fellowship Director while building a career in an expanding, high-referral interventional pain practice.
The Role
· Lead our ACGME-accredited Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship, based at Ochsner Health Center – Elmwood and Ochsner Medical Complex – Clearview, within our expanding Interventional Pain Service Line.
· Protected academic time is built into your schedule.
· Practice across the full spectrum of interventional and comprehensive pain care, both in the outpatient setting and the perioperative space, with an expanding referral network already in place.
· Join a diverse group of physicians — our faculty provides support and expertise across the field of pain medicine, creating a collaborative environment for both clinical practice and fellow training.
· Shape the program's direction, with administrative responsibility over budget, scheduling, and reporting — real input into how the fellowship and practice grow.
· Collaborate broadly — in ongoing partnership with system service line leadership, alongside multidisciplinary colleagues and a comprehensive EHR environment that supports coordinated, data-informed care.
· Join the inaugural faculty of the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. Formed through a landmark partnership between Xavier University of Louisiana and Ochsner Health, this is a rare opportunity to help establish a new academic institution from its founding years — shaping curriculum, mentorship, and the culture of medical education for the next generation of physicians in the Gulf South.
What We're Looking For
· BC/BE Anesthesiologist or PM&R physician
· Board certified in Pain Medicine
· Fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Management
· Minimum of 2 years of experience serving as faculty for a pain fellowship program, with preference given to candidates currently serving in an academic leadership position
· Genuine interest in chronic pain management and willingness to teach, mentor, and coach fellows and residents
· Comfort with research and academic productivity alongside clinical work
· A collaborator who builds relationships easily across a growing referral network
Compensation & Benefits
Highly competitive salary, with title commensurate with training and experience. Our Interventional Pain Service Line offers a robust compensation plan that rewards both clinical productivity and academic excellence, along with an attractive, comprehensive benefits package.
