Cleveland-Cliffs is hiring a Summer Payroll Intern at our Burns Harbor, Indiana location. This internship offers hands-on experience and exposure to corporate accounting at a Fortune 500 company. The Payroll Intern handles a variety of payroll functions, including preparing accurate employee payroll data, partnering with cross-functional teams to meet submission deadlines, reconciling payroll, and supporting internal and external customers.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Process all aspects of the payroll for assigned Companies, including ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and maintaining appropriate support.
- Comply with all applicable governmental laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, garnishments, federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
- Provide support to both internal and external customers to ensure requests are met in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work effectively with third-party vendors, i.e., Fidelity, MetLife, etc.
- Provide problem resolutions with payroll-related inquiries.
- Assist in identifying and developing system and process improvements resulting in enhanced control, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
- Additional duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Accounting, Finance, or another Business-related field
- Must have completed at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
- Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
