Nurses with a critical care background may also float to the Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU), based on their expertise.
Ideal candidates have a strong foundation in medical-surgical nursing, along with competency in at least one other acute care specialty such as Progressive Care (PCU), Orthopedics, Oncology, ICU, Emergency Department (ED), Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, or similar. Two years of acute care experience are highly preferred; however, outstanding new graduate Registered Nurses with hospital-based acute care backgrounds may also be considered.
