Salty Processing Operator

Location: Hanover, Pennsylvania

Shift: B Shift | 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM on a rotating AWS schedule (4 days on, 4 days off)

Starting Pay: $22.50/hour + $2.00 Shift Differential

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…

As a Salty Processing Operator, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality products by safely and efficiently operating processing equipment while maintaining a continuous flow of product to packaging lines. Your attention to quality, troubleshooting expertise, and commitment to food safety and operational excellence help ensure consistent production performance and customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO…

  • Operate processing equipment to produce products within Quality Assurance standards and established production specifications.
  • Properly mix ingredients and monitor temperature, moisture, and product consistency, making adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor product flow and remove improperly formed or out-of-specification product.
  • Operate, shut down, clean, and perform changeovers on processing equipment following established procedures.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and perform minor equipment adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Read and accurately follow batch sheets, recipes, and production instructions.
  • Monitor and document temperatures, mix times, item numbers, and raw material weights and make process adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor for potential foreign material contamination and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Follow sanitation procedures for equipment cleanups, changeovers, and chemical handling.
  • Track and properly dispose of waste according to company procedures.
  • Move raw materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Maintain appropriate raw material levels and communicate inventory needs to production leadership.
  • Unload raw material deliveries and trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain inventory and proper disposal procedures for cutter blades while ensuring Urschel Heads operate efficiently.
  • Test and receive new oil, filter and test used oil, and maintain proper oil levels in processing equipment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of heat exchanger systems and related processing equipment.
  • Monitor seasoning application rates and make adjustments when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting 5S initiatives.
  • Follow all food safety, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, and workplace injuries immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Support mandatory overtime as business needs require.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)

  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing and food processing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and food safety.
  • Ability to follow batch sheets, recipes, production schedules, and operational procedures.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform equipment setups, changeovers, and minor maintenance activities.
  • Ability to accurately complete production logs and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions within established guidelines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work overtime as business needs require.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of manufacturing, processing, or production experience.
  • Previous experience operating food processing equipment.
  • Forklift and/or pallet jack operating experience.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, food safety requirements, sanitation procedures, and allergen controls.
  • Experience working with production documentation and quality monitoring systems.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or 5S initiatives.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Continuous standing, walking, hand use, visual focus, and communication throughout the shift.
  • Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, overhead work, carrying, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, and ladder use.
  • Frequent concentration, reading, writing, comprehension, and problem-solving while monitoring equipment and product quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds continuously, up to 25 pounds continuously, and up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds seldom with assistance and over 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and manufacturing machinery.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid production environments.
  • Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Loud manufacturing environment requiring appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Fast-paced production environment focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
