Senior Technical Design Architect — Japan

THE ROLE

As a Senior Technical Design Architect, you will design and deliver customer solutions that connect Pure Storage data services to enterprise infrastructure and application environments. The role is primarily focused on storage, data migration, data protection, DR/BCP, and platform integration, while expanding into cloud-native and delivery automation capabilities

Role emphasis: the role is primarily centered on enterprise storage infrastructure and data services, while also expecting the ability and motivation to develop practical capability in cloud-native technologies and automation-led delivery. You are not expected to be a Cloud Native expert on day one; however, you should have more than a superficial understanding of the fundamentals and demonstrate the curiosity and commitment to apply and deepen this capability, including in Portworx-related project delivery

You will work across pre-sales and post-sales delivery, partnering with Sales, Product Marketing, Business Development, Services, Engineering, customers, and partners across Japan. You will translate business and technical requirements into clear architectures, implementation plans, and successful outcomes

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead or contribute to solution design, scoping, architecture reviews, proofs of concept, and implementation for storage, data protection, migration, replication, clustering, virtualization, and DR/BCP use cases.
• Deliver complex projects as an individual contributor or technical lead, including HLD/LLD, installation, upgrades, expansions, integrations, test environments, and operational handover.
• Advise Sales and customers on technical strategy, solution trade-offs, and the integration of Pure Storage into existing environments.
• Support post-sales implementation of scoped Professional Services solutions and ensure quality delivery with internal teams and partners.
• Evaluate partner delivery proposals and help ensure the right quality, risk profile, and value for Pure and the customer.
• Design and implement practical automation using scripts, REST APIs, Infrastructure asCode, ITSM integrations, or related workflow tools where appropriate.
• Build capability in cloud-native platforms and data services, including containers, Kubernetes/container orchestration, CI/CD, and data management on containerized or virtualized platforms. Apply this understanding to customer conversations and, over time, to Portworx-related project delivery.
• Prepare technical proposals and contribute to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and customer-facing architecture presentations.
• Travel to customer sites in Japan and, as required, to global sites.
• We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Tokyo office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years of project delivery experience, including HLD/LLD; 3+ years as a project manager, technical lead, or equivalent
• 5+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience, such as installation, upgrade, expansion, migration, integration, or test-environment development
• 5+ years as a subject-matter expert or solutions architect, including 2+ years in a team-lead or equivalent leadership role
• Strong understanding of enterprise storage protocols and experience with storage, virtualization, operating systems, networking, and data-center migration or platform integration
• Experience with data protection, replication, DR/BCP, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure operations or efficiency initiatives
• More-than-basic understanding of cloud-native concepts and technologies, such as containers, Kubernetes, container orchestration, CI/CD, OpenShift, KubeVirt, or related platforms. Hands-on experience is a plus, but the ability and motivation to deepen this capability and apply it in delivery work is required
• Interest in, or experience relevant to, cloud-native data services and Portworx; willingness to learn the product, its use cases, and the delivery patterns required for customer projects
• Scripting and automation experience using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Perl, plus practical use of REST APIs. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, workflow orchestration, monitoring, IAM, authentication, or ITSM integration is a plus
• Experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure is preferred
• FlashArray and/or FlashBlade experience is preferred; Pure Storage experience is a plus, not a prerequisite

• Autonomous, analytical, and proactive: raises opinions, clarifies ambiguity, manages stakeholders, reports progress, and contributes constructively in meetings
• Strong desire to learn new technologies, apply them in customer work, and share knowledge with colleagues and partners
• Strong project management, prioritization, and multitasking skills, with a professional and collaborative approach
• Business-level English proficiency for reading and writing, with willingness to continue improving
• ITIL, PMP, storage, cybersecurity, cloud, or cloud-native certifications are welcome
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; a graduate degree is preferred
• Expected to work from the Tokyo office in accordance with Pure’s policies, except when on PTO, business travel, or another approved arrangement
