YOUR ROLE
As a Staff Technical Writer on our team, you’ll collaborate with software engineers, technical writers, product managers, system testers, and documentation tools specialists to contribute to the adoption of leading-edge technology by developing world-class documentation.
You’ll be writing about products such as:
- Helix Virtualization Platform Cert Edition -a product targeted at customers and systems that require consolidation of both safety-critical and general-purpose applications.
- Wind River Diab Compiler - a suite of software development tools for device applications.
- VxWorks Cert Graphics Stack - a collection of components that enable graphical user interfaces (GUIs), rendering, and display management.
In your daily job you will:
- Collaborate with Wind River engineers and product managers to document Wind River products.
- Develop and maintain deeply technical, task-oriented documentation covering installation, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting of Wind River products.
- Author, structure, and maintain content in a DITA-based CCMS (e.g., Ixiasoft), ensuring modular, reusable, and consistent documentation.
- Align documentation with agile release cycles, ensuring readiness for product deliveries.
- Engage with SMEs, participate in technical reviews, and incorporate feedback from globally distributed teams.
- Act as a technical bridge between engineering and the documentation team.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of technical writing experience.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in the English language.
- Experience writing in a DITA-based CCMS (such as Ixiasoft).
- Ability to quickly learn complex software technologies and translate engineering concepts into clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation.
- Experience collaborating with software engineers and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and organize technical information.
- Experience writing developer-facing documentation, including user guides, configuration guides, tutorials, and reference documentation.
- Experience documenting command-line workflows, APIs, configuration settings, or software deployment procedures.
- Comfortable working in version-controlled environments.
- Ability to work efficiently with colleagues across geographic locations and time zones.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience using AI-assisted authoring tools, to support content creation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with software development concepts such as compilers, build systems, operating systems, and software deployment.
- Experience documenting software platforms used by developers, system integrators, or solution architects.
- Knowledge of UX principles and accessibility standards in documentation.
- Experience or education in software programming.
- Knowledge of XML schemas and configuration.
