Job Description

Job Summary

The goal is to provide experiential learning opportunities aligned with the objectives of the Hector and Gloria Lopez Foundation while developing professional skills through hands-on work. Position may be an off campus with a community partner organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of educational and community engagement activities.

  • Supporting outreach initiatives and special projects that advance the goals of the Lopez Foundation grant.

  • Working directly with students, community members, or partner organizations to provide program support and customer service.

  • Assisting with event planning, workshops, presentations, and participant engagement.

  • Conducting research, gathering information, and preparing reports or presentations related to grant activities.

  • Creating communication and marketing materials, including social media content, flyers, newsletters, and other outreach resources.

  • Maintaining program records, tracking participation, and assisting with data collection and assessment activities.

  • Collaborating with university staff and community partners on project implementation and problem-solving.

  • Performing administrative and operational tasks necessary to support grant-funded initiatives.

  • Participating in professional development, leadership training, and reflective learning activities associated with the internship experience.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.

  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.

  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.

  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.

  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.

  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.

  • Promptly complete all required trainings.

  • Submit time sheet biweekly.

  • Subject to funding and/or need.

  • Reliable transportation.
