At Live Oak Bank, effective risk management and regulatory compliance are essential to supporting our customers, protecting the bank, and enabling sustainable growth. As a Risk & Compliance Intern, you will gain exposure to how a leading digital bank manages risk, meets regulatory expectations, and promotes a strong culture of accountability and integrity.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals across Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop an understanding of the banking industry. Your work will help support key risk and compliance activities that protect the bank, its employees, and its customers.
What You'll Do at Live Oak
You will assist with a variety of projects and day-to-day activities that support the bank's risk management and compliance programs. Responsibilities may include:
• Support risk and compliance teams with research, analysis, documentation, and reporting activities.
• Assist in reviewing and organizing risk assessments, standards, procedures, and control documentation.
• Help analyze trends, incidents, audit findings, and regulatory developments to identify potential areas of risk.
• Participate in projects related to operational risk management, compliance monitoring, issue management, and governance processes.
• Assist with data gathering, validation, and reporting for internal management and regulatory purposes.
• Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and meeting materials for business and risk stakeholders.
• Collaborate with team members across various departments to better understand business operations and risk management practices.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities designed to build knowledge of banking, risk management, and compliance.
• Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness.
Required Experience
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in financial services, risk management, or compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience
• Previous internship, coursework, leadership experience, volunteer work, or project experience related to banking, finance, risk management, compliance, audit, accounting, or business operations.
• Familiarity with financial institutions, banking regulations, or regulatory compliance concepts.
• Experience analyzing data and identifying trends or insights.
• Exposure to business process improvement, controls, governance, or project management concepts.
• Experience using data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and desire to learn in a fast-paced professional environment.

The base pay range for this position is $19.77 - $32.12 per hour. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.Please note that we provide at least the minimum requirement of paid sick leave to our employees who reside in states that require employer-paid sick leave, including but not limited to Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
