Summer 2027 Intern - Sustainable Procurement and Decarbonization

Summary:

Join Momentive’s Sustainability and Procurement team to help advance our 2030 Scope 3 emissions reduction goals. In this role, you will analyze supplier and emissions data, evaluate supplier sustainability performance, and develop strategies to prioritize supplier engagement and reduce supply chain emissions.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or related fields. Candidates with technical knowledge of environmental science and strong data analysis and analytical skills will excel in this opportunity, applying their expertise to real-world sustainability challenges and business decisions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze purchased-goods emissions by raw material, supplier, business segment, region, and spend.

  • Identify the suppliers responsible for the largest share of Category 1 emissions. Assess supplier sustainability maturity using factors such as: Availability and quality of supplier-specific PCFs Climate targets and SBTi status Renewable-energy use Recycled or bio-based alternatives Geographic and supply-chain risk Commercial importance and substitutability Create a supplier segmentation model—for example: Engage, Develop, Substitute, or Monitor.

  • Develop sustainability questions and scoring criteria for RFQs, supplier reviews, and sourcing decisions.

  • Identify 5–10 supplier engagement opportunities and estimate potential emissions reduction, cost premium, feasibility, and implementation timeline.

Qualifications:

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Rising Senior in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental science or Environmental Engineering.

Program Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.

  • The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.

What We Offer:

Base Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00
