LGC’s Diagnostic and Genomics site develops and manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of catalogue and custom-developed diagnostic quality solutions and component materials for the extended life sciences industry. We partner with IVD assay developers, and pharmaceutical, CRO and academic institutions in commercialization activities across the entire diagnostic pipeline - from concept and early stage research, through expedited product development and onwards into routine clinical use. Laboratorians and diagnostic professionals across disciplines of clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, serology, molecular diagnostics and clinical genomics rely on LGC’s products to support accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
Our operating entities include The Native Antigen Company, which is a manufacturer and supplier of antigens and antibodies, which are key components in vaccine research, and for the accurate diagnosis of a wide range of infectious diseases. Job Purpose
The role of the Warehouse and Shipping Assistant at LGC offers an exceptionally outstanding opportunity to be part of a world-class Warehouse and Logistics team. Key Responsibilities and Role Objectives
- Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming shipments and materials, ensuring seamless operations.
- Pack according to shipping instructions and local regulations globally, maintaining our world-class standards.
- Maintain shipping department consumables and raise purchase requisitions to ensure all essential items are readily available.
- Maintain a shared team email inbox by responding promptly with accurate information.
- Conduct measurements of products using specialized equipment to ensure precision.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet and pump trucks safely and efficiently.
- Pick and issue internal material requisitions and transport tasks to meet internal demand competently.
- Ensure storage of goods according to their storage conditions and EHS regulations, promoting a safe environment.
- Maintain an accurate ERP system through the completion of transactions.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts against agreed schedules to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Support international shipping operations, including coordinating global distribution of our temperature-sensitive and hazardous materials and managing daily pickups with shipping partners.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace, adhering to our high standards.
- Coordinate the cold storage areas, conduct defrosting cycles, and monitor temperatures to ensure efficient conditions.
- Assist in the production of SOPs for the Warehouse department, ensuring clarity and compliance.
- Align with all company, departmental, and regulatory policies and rules.
- Support the wider commercial team with various administration and operations tasks as required.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Essential:
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy within administration and operational tasks.
- Strong organisational abilities and capability to manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks to optimally support business needs.
- Proven experience in warehousing and logistics.
- Capacity to work autonomously and arrange tasks effectively to optimally support the business needs
- Good verbal and written communication standards to ensure clear lines of communication with internal and external collaborators.
- Good IT skills, primarily with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Team-focused with a desire to support other team members when required to help the overall business function.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with third-party online shipping platforms is considered beneficial.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience in transporting temperature-sensitive products and adhering to Dangerous Goods regulations. Holding an IATA certificate for Dangerous Goods shipping is a plus, though training will be offered.
